About Me

Mission: To use data science and machine learning to filter the signal out of the noise and improve our personal decision making

Rising senior studying Computer Science, interested in data science and machine learning. Background working at two venture-backed high growth startups in Los Angeles as well as international experience in China working for a Fortune 500. Additional experience starting and running a business with 8 full-time employees. Written work has appeared in Forbes, Huffington Post, and Startup Grind.

Working as a data scientist intern I've had the opportunity to build:

    > Machine learning models with Python

    > Time series forecasts using Prophet

    > Actionable SQL dashboards in Periscope

    > ETL pipelines using Airflow

    > Dimension and fact tables in Postgres

    > KPI design and SQL reports to track performance

Throughout my experience, I've also had the opportunity to engage with a variety of business stakeholders focused on introducing new processes as a result of insights extracted from deep analysis. Additionally, I've lead key data initiatives within organizations in the form of SQL workshops, office hours and tech talks to help organizations become more data driven & data literate.

What I'm Doing Now

Last updated: September, 2018
The easiest way to see what I'm currently doing is to checkout my personal dashboard.

I've just recently wrapped up my data science internship in Los Angeles and am now back at Queen's University for my senior year studying Computer science. I'm mostly focused on recruiting and interview prep for a full time data science role after I graduate in April 2019.

This school year I'll also be doing some research in the areas of anomaly detection, which I'll be fleshing out as the fall semester unfolds.

I'm also doing a deep dive into Data Science, Machine Learning and Statistics. Here are some books I'm reading:

Python for Data Analysis: Data Wrangling with Pandas, NumPy, and IPython

The Visual Display of Quantitative Information/p>

Hands-On Machine Learning with Scikit-Learn and TensorFlow: Concepts, Tools, and Techniques to Build Intelligent Systems

    Python Machine Learning, 1st Edition

    Superintelligence: Paths, Dangers, Strategies

    Everybody Lies

    Weapons of Math Destruction

Big Data: A Revolution That Will Transform How We Live, Work, and Think

Turing: Pioneer of the Information Age

The Book of Why: The New Science of Cause and Effect

Visual Explanations: Images and Quantities, Evidence and Narrative

    Envisioning Information

    SQL Performance Tuning

SQL Cookbook: Query Solutions and Techniques for Database Developers

Code: The Hidden Language of Computer Hardware and Software

The Second Machine Age: Work Progress and Prosperity in a Time of Brilliant Technologies
